Please grade. I just picked this up at a local shop to fill one of the last three holes in my LMC album. I missed what I think are cleaning marks on the reverse. It was only 50 cents, but......oh well. Anyway. Waht do you think?

I don't think that it has been cleaned. Those lines look like die polish that was used to get rid of those clash marks. I'm not sure how they would affect the grade, but ill say ms66.

I agree, that looks like some mighty crude die polishing. Nice find! Lots of polishing under the monument, and one heck of a gouge from the NW of the memorial, and into the 4th and 5th pillars.

Heavy die polish lines aret typical for the issue. They do not effect the grade. The right field hits hurt it a bit, still a nice coin.

Thanks for your replies! I appreciate your knowledge; I am always learning something new here on CCF! It is great to hear that those marks are die polish!

Whenever you see an anomoly on the surface of coin, check to see if the feature is raised, then you know it was on the die. Look at the lines closely using a 10x or better loupe and you'll see what I mean.

Not a gouge, that is part of the clash that was not fully effaced from the die.
