After a lot of searching, I found a nice cherry to pick. Off to the graders when it arrives.... I'm stoked!

LOL PG ... I see a VF or so Morgan ... you see a treasure worthy of a knowledgeable collector.

Obviously I know absolutely nothing about identifying Morgan VAM ... but enjoy your enthusiasm for the find.

Offering my best to you in hopes that the coin turns out to be whatever Vam-a-gizzy you say it is.

You have got to quit talking about these before you get the coin in-hand. Quite frankly, there are people on this forum who will take this one away from you if they can. You acknowledged the wisdom of this advice earlier today, and did it again anyway.

I'm going to leave this here, and if you lose the coin, that may be the lesson you need.

Trust me, I get that, but I can no longer count the number of known instances of this happening when strong VAMs are involved....

....not that I'm acknowledging this one as a solid R7 VAM or anything.

SuperDave, could you explain what you mean by people on this forum taking it away from him? I've obviously missed a good portion of this puzzle and am a bit confused.

Dave's referring to the fact that if you put a link up to a mislabeled undervalued coin in a post and point out that it is undervalued a fellow forum member looking to make a profit might bid on the very coin you posted about driving the price up higher than what you might have paid if you didn't post a link to it until after the auction had ended. You might not even win if you bid to low and the fellow forum member bids higher then you do.

I was under the assumption the great deal he found had already been purchased and paid for.

It was bought and paid for... but not in hand.... I understand Dave's concern for my lack of concern... Lesson learned...

you are going to do this one day and you will receive a refund from the seller because the coin is "misplaced" or "stolen" and when that happens you will be kicking yourself because then you will remember the warnings you have been given numerous times about doing this type of thing. You have to at least wait until the coin has been shipped and in the postal carriers hands before posting these things. Sellers sometimes are collectors also and if you bring a "cherrypick" to their attention they will take a closer look at what they sold you and when they do that they will use your knowledge against you. OCD is one thing and I believe any coin collector has to have some form of OCD to stay focused on coins like we do but I am scared you are going to have to be on the wrong end of one of these situations before you actually get a handle on posting the coins as soon as you win them and it will be a shame if that is to happen. I do believe you may just be correct with your attribution though

Yes, it absolutely has. I am personally aware of numerous instances in which a purchase has been bragged about in public, and some reader has noted it, responded to the seller immediately with a serious overbid, and the seller then "lost" the coin and took the extra money to give it to the new guy.

That, of course, requires moral....flexibility....on the part of both the seller and the new buyer, and isn't always the case. But, as I said, I know it happens and I speak only out of concern for the "true" buyer.

I've never admired those who brag about their picks. Kind of a private thingy, but there is a thread for best deal you've gotten. Didn't feel quite right posting there myself... which I did.

You also stated there were folks on this forum that would do such things, which to me, is pretty disturbing.

I speak from the standpoint of not only understanding just how cutthroat the world of VAMming is, but also knowing (to a degree) who is lurking as well as who is posting. Of the "regulars" who post here - and I use a broad definition of that term - there is not one whom I wouldn't trust with my sister or my last dollar. We're lucky enough to have attracted some of the real gentlemen in our sub-genre, and this would be a good time to express my gratefulness that Coin Community has enjoyed such a blessing.

But, as big as Morgans and VAMming is, not everybody involved is bound by such morals. If I have intimated that such are not only on the periphery here, I ask forgiveness for use of that language as poetic license meant as an object lesson.
