Now the city of Bristol UK joins the growing trend of issuing their own currency notes. How long before Krause has to issue another catalogue I wonder.
James4444, Yes, that's correct. Indeed they can only be used where people will accept them. There's no law preventing them being used internationally, though, as they're not technically 'legal currency' or legal tender.
The town of Lewes ( East Sussex, England ) has had a scheme like this running for some time. It appears the impact on the local community is much less than they hoped. ( i.e. practically negligible!) There is talk of a re-launch later this year.
The issuer of the notes is supposed to hold England banknotes to the same value as the Lewes ones issued, to ensure that there is not a rush of paper money.
The notes themselves are fine. I have an unusual £21 note from this set.
