Stack gold and silver for the here and now.
Stack heck notes to spent after you are gone.
Talk about hedging all bets!
I learned something new today.
Thanks.

I have a collection of about 500 different kinds of heck notes. They are almost all on very flimsy paper but then they are designed to be burnt as part of a funeral ritual.

I read somewhere once that to give this money to a living person would be considered grossly offensive. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Since the Chinese were the inventors of paper money, they have a very long history of burning replica paper money for the benefit of the departed. Typical traditional-designed "joss paper" notes bear a superficial resemblance to Ming Dynasty banknotes.

Yes, well, it's basically saying "I hope you're going to need this soon". In other words, "I wish you were already dead". It might look like play money, but it's taken quite seriously by those who adhere to the Chinese belief system.

There's a chap at the local coin club who sometimes obtains examples of various different designs of notes from the local Chinese supplies stores, and quite a few people in the club collect "funny money" and such so would be interested in them for their collections; but he never gives it away directly to people. He always just leaves a pile of it on the table and says if anyone wants one, they can take one.
