Please take a look at my pics and let me know if this is a dropped letter T or perhaps a redo on the edge lettering and the T is still showing through.
I'm hearing that this may be caused by two coins banging into each other in the Ballistic Bags. Makes sense to me, the inverse edge would act like a die, and if hit hard enough into the other coin, would imprint it's image there. The jury is still out though.
I would think that there would be noticeable deforming on the edge in order for another coin to cause this though? If it's actually raised on the edge, you would think that that much force would have damaged the coin. Just my 2 cents though.
If you lay 2 coins side by side, you will see that very little of the two coins actually touch.
And if you think about the dies for the edge lettering, they are not incuse, there is no where for the metal to build up like on regular dies. They are like punches......just more food for thought
