I know that this is a BIG no no for most coins. But it's not a rare date, it's not in that good of condition and it looks like it came out of the ground. Is there any way to clean it up a little bit without damaging it any further?

I was thinking just a soak in some warm water then patting it dry should clean it up a bit but I'm guessing that it's stuck on a little tougher than that.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Soak in distilled water. Then an acetone soak. That will do everything you can without invoking the cleaning police. If it is heavily tarnished, you could then do a dip in E Z Est as a final step, but that would bring them running screaming how awful you are. ;)

Hrmmm... don't think there's any of that around the house? Do you think a blow torch would loosen some of that crud off? ;)

Now that put a smile on my face. That'll do the trick!
