The CCF is probably tired of my indecisiveness on the Seated dollar for my 7070, so here is another. The seller made me a counteroffer on this dollar for $500. What do you think about this one? Thanking you in advance!

Thats the best one so far, but the dings and scratches between the beak and wing on the reverse make my eye twitch. But thats just me.
I am only seeing a 425.00 value on Coin Worlds value page for a VF coin. AG G VG F VF XF AU 1842: 200 275 325 350 425 750 1,000

Better ones are out there. I vote pass. I know your frustration though. It took me 6-9 months to find one acceptable in my $350 price range

I knew this was your thread even before I opened it! And, I agree; i'd pass on this one for the same reasons as previously posted.

I think this one looks nice for the grade and one of the best looking ones you have posted for us to look at but I also agree that the $500.00 is a little on the high side for it

According to the PCGS Certification Database, the requested certification number is defined as the following:
COIN INFORMATION Cert Verification #: 13653555 PCGS Coin #: 6928 Date, mintmark: 1842 Denomination: $1 Variety: Minor Variety: Mint Error: Pedigree: Country: The United States of America Grade: VF35 Mintage: 184,618 PCGS Price GuideSM Value: $625 Holder Type: Standard Population: 39
Auction Appearances of This Coin Date Price Firm Sale Notes 4/1/2009 $403.00 Heritage 2009 April-May Cincinnati, OH (CSNS) US Coin Auction #1124 http://www.pcgs.com/Cert/13653555/The seller mentioned the "chatter" in front of the Eagle's Beak for bringing the grade down; "XF details, but a notable contact mark below the eagle's beak may have resulted in the lower grade. Prooflike surfaces glowing through old tan tone..." I purchased an 1860-O earlier and I am still in the "return window" when the seller finally got around to my inquiry from almost two weeks ago. Mine has better feather detail, although the "color" was criticed as being "cleaned", although not annotaed by PCGS. I am going to hang on to the one "in hand" and let this subject go...for now, and focus on my remaining four "holes". Thanks to one and all!

. . . . I just can't get past the unfortunately-placed discolouration on the bust that looks like a nip slip, I'm sorry.
But yeah, if you're looking for the nicest your buck can buy, the scratch on the obverse and the gouge under the eagle's beak kinda take it out of that realm for me. Keep looking.
