I found this coin when I unrolled one of the new dollar rolls. Why does it have all the back on it? It is only on the front and back of the coin and not on the sides. What could of caused this? The coin came straight out of the roll like this.

I put it next to one of the normal looking coins to show the difference, I couldn't get a better picture of it in the protector.

I beileve what you have is an unburnished planchet error.
I've seen several of these pop up in the last month on other forums.

Looks like its been cooked in an oven?
One of these sold on ebay last week for $81.
Nice find.

Anything is possible. Where did you get the roll? It is possible someone rerolled those coins and put that one in there. Possible it was rolled somewhere and that coin was just sitting there waiting for someone to get rid of it. It is just to odd that a coin can do that on BOTH sides while in a roll and no other coins are effected.

I work at a bank, I opened the roll that came from the mint. It was in the rolls that we got the first day that the coins came out.
