I have the following three halfpenny 1843 coin and the 3 appears to be dropped. This is far more noticeable on the actual coin than the picture. Is this what is classed as an error and is it more valuable. Many thanks, Sheen
In Krause it says 1843/34 which suggests that the original strikings were an error (1834 being William IV). Then the correct date of 1843. Perhaps the amendment was not done as carefully when they realised the error. Also the series was produced for use in Ceylon and Jamaica.
