I found this today at a local park I was metal detecting. I was wondering if anyone ever saw something like this and if so, around what year is it from?

It's maybe 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches. It's not very big.

No. I can not find any markings at all. I did post the same thing on the treasurenet.com forum and someone said that it may look like something from the 1930s or 1940s. But I think it may be older than that for the simple reason that there is not a stand for it to stand up. It does not even look like there was one there. The only things that are broken off of it are the gun that the cowboy is carrying and also the horses tail.

Is it flat on one side or three dimensional? Looks like he was shooting a carbine. Looks like the stock is still on his shoulder. It doesn't look like lead. Does a magnet stick? If it was lead it would look chalky or grayish in color. Solid black color with very nice detail reminds me of painted cast iron. Perhaps an old 'Grey Iron' toy cowboy/soldier?

Viewing it with my magnifying glass it appears to be a cavalry trooper.
