Hey everyone!

Unidentified-Thai-Coin/Token
I found this among a batch of Thai coins, but I couldn't identify it. I'm ASSUMING it's from Thailand, but even that I can't be sure...I'm pretty sure even Thai dating doesn't go that high up.

So...any help would be appreciated!

Babar

I have no idea, but my guess is that it is a Thai telephone or transport token.

Good work.
The first 6 characters

Unidentified-Thai-Coin/Token

on the second image seem to be the Thai word for telephone.

That is some pretty hardcore sleuthing, Pertinax!
You must've opened the google translate keyboard, looked for letters similar to the ones on the token, then typed them out to translate it!
Unless you already know the thai language....

Thanks!

I did it the other way round, typed telephone into Translate, then looked for the Thai letters on the token, then used ZapGrab to create an image of the Thai letters.

Yes the wording says 'Telephone Company'. Don't know the value (1 or 5 baht I would guess) but tokens haven't been used for over 20 years. My (Thai) wife is in her 30's but she doesn't remember them in use.

It is from a batch of Thai coins I found in a satchel in a trunk from a person who was studying in Chulalongkorn University in Thailand in the late 60s, thai-vic. I don't really collect tokens, so any idea what it'd be worth?

I would say that the token definitely fits in with the late sixties but I don't collect tokens myself. I have no idea about the worth.

I found a similar one here:
http://www.seaclassic.com/si_show_g...p?item=TH201

Selling for $3, but it seems a newer one, with the numbers not in english. The site claims that one is AU, but the picture doesn't look it...

I guess that is the closest approximation I will get. Thanks!
