I realised this coin was a bit odd, an Egyptian 1917 Five Milliemes coin in really nice condition but with no hole at the center. It had the circular mark but the 'plug' is still intact. Have I found a real gem or is this quite common ?
Will post a picture later.
Cheers
Brian.

It would definitely be a valuable piece. Do you have pics of it?

Certainly not common, I would expect up to $100 at the right venue.

That is all very pleasing, thanks.

Numismat, I have to ask " What is the right venue ?" Are we talking ebay or a specialist coin auction ?

Selling the coin will raise funds to extend my Victorian collection.

Cheers
Brian.

ebay would be the right venue if you market it right (mostly meaning good pictures), but having a history of selling coins also helps a lot. A specialist may pay even more than that, the question is time. Auction is a quick sale, specialist will most likely take a while.

The value would be closer to $500. They are quite rare but a few are known.

I see that someone bumped a thread which is almost a year old. Is this coin still available for sale? I'd be a buyer for the right price.

My interest is Israeli error coins, but these coins actually circulated and were used as legal tender in Israel in their day, before the British minted the Palestine coins of 1927-1947. It could be an interesting side addition.
