I have tried to identify it but to no avail. Very difficult inscription font to read but might be Greek ? Dia' 25mm, weight 6g. Could be silver. Any ideas from the pictures ? Thanks Brian.
Having great difficulty in loading the second picture, will keep trying.
No, it's not Greek. It is Spanish. It reads FERNANDUS ET ELISABE D G, so it is in the name of the Reyes Catolicos, Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella of Castilia.
This one is "better quality" than the brass one commonly seen here on the forum, in that the Latin letters actually make sense on this piece, but I still think it's a replica, along the lines of this one Swamperbob commented on in this old thread.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
Thanks for the links, had a good read, fascinating stuff ! Lettering on the coin is a little sharper than in the pictures as the image optimizer alters them a little. I can live with it being a copy
