When I was browsing I found this topic...I was like thats easy...then I reached for my binder and I began to sweat and became ridden with guilt as I grabbed my favorite, or at least what I thought was my favorite and after about 45 min I composed myself and decided to post this one. Mainly do it obverse subject matter and advanced age minted nearly 2500 years ago on a small island in the Aegean sea. The coin is a rendering of the Greek myth of the Satyr's abduction of the Nymph. This often described in various ways but usually using the term "Naked ithyphallic Satyr carrying off Nymph" But for me and anyone who sees the coin can clearly tell that it would be very hard to run from the Satyr's position, from this one could assume that the abduction and carrying away portion has already occurred. The reverse features only a simple Quadrapartite incuse square...I think it adds to the mystique of the coin.
...In hindsight I could have just said, "Archaic Greek Jiggy Coin"...

Ummm, although I like the jiggy-coin, I think that the ol' 1967 Canadian Centennial Dollar is the ticket!!

@mds308- don't worry about. This coin suffers from the same effect as all ancient coins. I have seen one like mine in past auctions sold for 3500 swiss franks. One in lesser condition then mine took $750 in '08. Its really worth what someone will pay for it. I searched for years to obtain this coin at a price I could afford. These often go for thousands sometimes a super nice many thousands at a fancy Euro Auction house, in my 4 am trip to the bay I spotted one within range...I paid like $270ish. This is the Stater denomination approx. 7.8-10.8g. They vary in size and date greatly you can see them as late as the top half of the 3rd century BC and as early as the mid 6th century BC. Smaller drachms can be had a bit cheaper but they are about 3.5 grams. I have one of each. They have the Jiggy and in general command a premium. I must say though I am good and ever vigilant for a good deal. I can see one on the bay that I have bought quite a few things from...its NGC certified if your into slabs..I think he wants $750, I don't think hes unreasonable either, just a little rich for my blood. I hope I answered your question.

Here is a little info about it

I drive by the memorial fairly often, and I can almost see the mountain from my house.
