I picked up a Large Cent (Matron type) for my friend's slabbed 7070 and wanted to see what the CCF thinks about what PCGS bestowed upon it. Thanks for your feedback! (sellers images)

Nice! I like the woodgrain! Too bad about the vergis, but that is common for large cents. I think that it is VF30.

VF-35-ish. I might be concerned that the green gunk could develop into active verdigris but there does not appear to be any damage at this point. If it were mine I would consider cracking it out and treating with Verdi-care. Then it could be re-submitted if I really wanted it in a slab.

I'll bump it up to an XF-40. Love those mid-thirties with all their verities to drive you crazy when trying to put together a set.

I would think that Top TPG'ers would identify such contaminates on a coin before slabbing it problem-free (no details noted). I was reading some older threads about Verdi-Care. I did not see any results of resubmitting to a TPG after treatment. Would/have the TPG'ers identified treatment as such? I may just send this puppy back if the green is there, I did not see it right away, being color-blind is sorta a handicap. (124) Q: After conservation will my coin still be gradable with a third-party grading service such as PCGS? A: Every coin is different and the grading services may reject any coin for a multitude of reasons regardless of whether it was conserved or not. We cannot guarantee the opinions of any third-party grader. Product user assumes all risks associated with using the product.http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/fil...Care-FAQ.pdf

We'll see what my friend thinks when we get it "in-hand", whether to resuscitate it or return it and try again.
