Looks like a VF35-XF40...depends on what you want to do with it. I would not buy it raw (no telling if it would receive a details grade(cleaned, altered surfaces, etc...)), if it was problem free slabbed, that would be a different story.

I bought it at melt....so no risk there. Just curious if slabbing it up is the way to go...not for improved value, but just to make resale easier down the road. And let me rephrase that...bought it at melt a few months ago!

It will remain a coin around melt value, I don't think a slab is needed for this circulated gold piece.

The only thing slabbing would do is to authenticate that is real. ANACS for me if I have this one.

That is a better date but it has been cleaned and/or polished reducing it to melt value. It's still a nice pick up at melt though since many would try to sell it as a "scarce date", which it is in Mint State.

No need to slab. Just protect and enjoy!

P.S. This date can bring $3,000 in MS63!

I personally wouldn't, but if you are worried about resale value, go ahead with it. If it was a much higher grade, go for it.

For the sake of authentication, sure. I certainly would. But it wouldnt be hi on my list of coins to send. Many others I have right now would be in front of that one.
