I found this nickel while counting a pile of change at work today. It is very smooth and I can't even make out the date.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Steve

If its one of those two, its 1994. 1984 had a different portrait of the Queen.

Wert, it is a 1994, as far as I can tell. I can barely see the two nines with further scrutiny.

Anyone have any thoughts if this be a mint error or maybe it did get stuck in a burnishing/polishing machine somewhere in the last 18 years as previously suggested by Wade...

Thanks!

I've seen pennies like this too. Any ideas how long it would have to be stuck in the dryer to get all worn out like this?

I've also seen them on ebay touted as a "rare capped die" coin (or some variation thereof). Don't be fooled by cheap imitations!

I dried a steel core penny 2007 one cycle to round off the rims. I would like to do a test with each denomination of coin and composition. I go to do laundry once every week will upload photos.
