Item 864 in the catalogue lists a 5 cent MS 62 ICCS item and lists it as coinage. What would make this coin any different than the circulation 5 cent piece? It lists a starting price of $2500 for the auction, and states "Highest of Rarity".

Just wondering what makes it so special.

Ordinarily, since 1908 Canadian coins have been struck in medal alignment (ie up/up). This one is struck in coinage alignment (ie up/down), like U.S. coins or Canadian coins prior to 1908.

This is highly unusual, and may have been the result of the guys at the Mint fooling around on the presses.
