These can be tough to ID! I have 2 or 3 with minor notching on LIBERTY that I just can't seem to match up either. I have the same problem of not being able to find the right markers, possibly due to an earlier die state. I just hold on to them with all my other unidentifiable stuff!

I have a bunch of examples of the doubled die reverse for this year that I'm keeping in the ID drawer as well. There are a ton for this year but this one seems to be a strong example- especially in the "2" and "0's". The reverse column one is screaming to be a marker. It probably is, I'm just not looking in the right place.
I PM'd Coop with the link. Hopefully he'll stop by to lend his expert opinion. I believe he's dealt with alot of the 2006's both obverse and reverse DD's.

Hard to tell from the images for sure what you have. The glare on the devices make it hard to tell for sure. Bob from coppercoins usually needs a hand on look to see if it is listed or a new die or too minor. Hard to tell from images provided. But an item to see more images of. The images too close make anything look like something. An image showing half or move of LIBERTY would be better with the light diffused. That cuts the glare out of your images. A diffuser can be as simple as a plastic grocery bag between the light source and the scope/glass. You will see how it works after try this. Depending on you light source this can be accomplished. http://www.coppercoins.com/forum/vi...4cd89a62bf56

Thanks for the useful info coop - I will get some better images created asap.
.....That darn USB scope is just so easy to use and quick. When I actually photograph anything with my "real" camera it comes out great, but the setup and transfer of the files is where the "lazy" kicks in.
... I'm glad you agree more pictures are warranted - there is definite doubling there.
Ok..lazy talk again... what about a scanner for these types of varieties? Yay or nay?

Maineman750 - that was one of the ones that was extremely close, but the markers didn't match. There are no die scratches near EPU, near the statue, or in the bay next to the statue to the right, but there is that rather large "blob" on the first column. Coppercoins has it listed as MDS...
I would say this could be early EDS and then they polished the blob, bays, EPU and left the crack on column 2.
... if that even seems plausible that something like that could occur?

Lonz, EDS means early die state, and yes markers could be missing because EDS occurs before MDS or LDS. In fact, markers are helpful, but you don't have to have them to identify a particular variety. Always concentrate on the variety first, markers help confirm, but do not eliminate except in a few cases.
