How rare is the 1929 cent when a seller on ebay has 10 for sale. Item no 110955580393.

just type in the word RARE on ebay and see how many hits you get. Didn't you know that almost all coins are rare.

Yes I check ebay a lot and I will not send anymore messages to sellers wondering if I missed something in the description. They use rare more than I drink coffee and that is a lot.

At least in this case the high-9 is the scarcer of the two varieties, relatively speaking. Not saying "rare" is fitting as an adjective here, but it's better than seeing "rare" describing auctions for either composition of 2011 penny, both of which were minted in excess of 300 million coins. There's a whole scale of how inappropriate use of the word "rare" can be!

I guess the dealer thinking is that if they don't use the word "RARE", fewer people will look at the auction, thus reducing the end price.

"Rare" is one of the words I filter out in my ebay searches, so I don't have to sort through piles of not-so-rare coins....

The correct term for this coin would be scarce. Not the same thing as rare. Two commonly misused words on ebay are key date & rare.

"rare" is a term overused on ebay almost as much as the word "vintage"

The high nine 1929 is a relatively recent discovery. Worth around $20 in low grade according to coinsandcanada ( though the actual number in existance is uncertain) I found 1 along with a key date 1922 and 4 common King George V cents in a bag of 6 that I paid a total of 50 cents for a few weeks ago at a coin show. The low 9 1929 in average condition is about a 1 Dollar coin
