This showed up in the mail this week. Its slabbed NGC G-4(problem free). Its Crosby 1A Large US, pointed rays; also an R4. These are the sellers images, this coin looks much nicer in hand. I love these early coppers and the history involved with our nation. Anyways just wanted to share...

That would look sweet in my type set album!
I opted not to add the gold page and used a blank large cent page for my colonial coppers instead.

As I had never seen or heard of this coin prior to now, I just read an article on them. Very cool. They mentioned the differing types and what not. My question, which year is this one?

Thanks for the comments. Smokerideron its a 1783 the date is on the reverse and is hard to see in the photo. Here is a link to an excellent site from Notre Dame University on early American colonial coins and currency.

Nice coin! Nice to see another Colonial enthusiast here :-)

Notre Dame is an excellent educational resource.
If your not a member yet of C4 or EAC, they are excellent organizations ;-)

By the way, I believe NGC was a bit conservative on this coin. Colonials, by different standards, have many considerations to be made such as strike vs. actual wear being one, as well as planchet imperfections/flaws which some TPG's will actually call damage. This is where their broad knowledge, and not any one specialty, becomes apparent.

Congrats!

And I'll second that NGC doesn't (always) know how to grade Colonials.
