I found a good source with a ton of these selling for $40 each. Should I start stacking these things at this price or hold off for cheaper ones? An

The pre-67 sets contain have 1.11 troy oz of silver - So @ $34.50/oz for silver, they're worth $39.
So $40 is a good price unless silver tanks, in which case it's not.
Pre-63 sets have numismatic value also.

Sure, a neat way to buy silver, if you are planning on buying silver anyways.

I think long term these sets will be worth $100+

I remember buying a few of these sets in 2002 for $10 each and another couple in 2008 for $20. I was worried both times about over paying. My regret now is not having bought more while I had the chance.

I don't think common (post 63) silver mint set will go to $100 in the foreseeable future but I definitely would be a buyer @ $40.

Words of advice from an old war horse. If you wish to hold silver........... great. These sets are a nice and very interesting way to do it. DO not get carried away though and only buy what you feel comfortable with. As the past has proven, you can not only make a little once in awhile but with precious metals you can also very quickly lose your proverbial *** Edited by Staff | The bad word filter is in place for a reason. Bypassing the filter and making the intended word obvious anyway is completely unacceptable. ***. Have fun and make sure to watch for some great cameos and errors in these sets!
