Maybe we should just put the same image on all coins as Canada does...

How long would have Franklin been on the half dollar if Kennedy wasn't assininated? Could you fathom a clad Franklin half?

Besides us collectors (we collectors?) and the Kennedy fans, how many people would honestly notice if the half was discontinued? I have very little demand for them at the bank, all I have are a handful of coins sitting in a coffee can in the vault. I've always thought if the vending machines would accept them, there might be more of a demand for them.

Don't get me wrong, I like the half dollar but I question its usefulness in todays economy. I really don't see a need for it.

It is not accompishing much at the present time but who knows what tomorrow will bring. I have found, throughout my life, that it is best to NOT give anything up as getting it back or replacing it might be tougher than you think. And, any time the government offers something good for all of us you had better be reading between the lines! Most goods benefit a certain few and guess who ends up paying for all those goods that were supposed to be another opportunity for all! Don't ever volunteer to give up anything! Make them take it!

I notice that people are quick to judge what others are saying when they are not a jury with all the facts but as a sovereign man I can forgive them as they do not know better. So lets get to the root point of what is actually happening. Its simply this ,your money value is being removed by stealth and with it the means of exchange ie coins and notes that big brother cannot monitor at the moment what you do with them but by gradualism they have removed the cents, then the dimes and so on till eventually you only have the micro chip in your hand to buy your food with. guess what you have allowed yourself to be fully enslaved and you say your in the land of the free? hmmmm I like to be able to take coins and notes out of my pocket to by what I wish without the transaction being recorded for use against me at some future date.
This is the reason why they are doing this removal of low denomination coins and as there is no low denomination the price incidently has to go up. so what you were able to get for a cent now costs a buck and you thought it was to do with inflation.. like the half dollar being seldom used and taken from you, your freedom if its not being exerted will go the same way...
Rest in Peace

Hello niksfree, since you have impugned us with the statement that most people do not understand the "concept" of being a sovereign man who lives by and knows the "7 natural we were born with", I've taken the bait and wish you would explain exactly what you mean! I personally think your last response shows some signs of paranoia. The debate about the "world of no money" has been bantered about for 50 years or more, mainly, since the advent of the computer. (And quite a lot on this forum) Without re-hashing all of the points of view, most conclude that this is something of an Orwellian concept that has many practical barriers to overcome before becoming a reality. Most people have embraced the ease of credit and debit cards, electronic transfers, this very public media that you are now using, online shopping and on and on. If this were not true, the system would have failed miserably from the start. Even now you can pay cash for 99% of the things you wish to buy. So that being said, please explain your philosophy so the rest of us can become "enlightened"! Peace, Mike

Mike, I wouldn't pass judgement on niksfree to quickly as he is more RIGHT than you may think. I can see the media, the church, and the government has taught you well when you made the statement about paranoia. First, to control, you must discredit those people or ways you wish to control and that has been going on for years. Most of the 20th century on a daily basis. I suppose you think the new paper money is really about counterfeiting? How many counterfeit bills have you ever seen?
Has it ever dawned on you that there may be more people in the world with just a little bit more knowledge about certain things than you do? Now, don't get me wrong, as this is not meant to upset you or insult you in any way. All I am asking is that you, and the millions like yourself, please keep your mind open to all possibilities as there is far more going on than you can imagine and we all are going to be a part of it! Embrace new ideas and possibilites and never ever offer to give up a freedom my friend as they are slowly being taken away from you at this very moment. Everything is happening for a purpose and a reason and most is being controlled and we all had better start thinking that way! And no my friend, I am not paranoid! I live with the theory that "A mind is like a parachute, it is useless until it is open"!
Rest in Peace

Hello Terry,
I merely stated my opinion based on the cryptic use of these principles of being a "sovereign" man and the 7 natural laws we were born with. I need to know what they are in order to understand them. You have asked me not to pass judgment and have done exactly that to me by assuming you know what events in my life brought me to my way of thinking.(I must admit you covered all the conventional places of learning!)You did miss some of the important ones being life experience, family, independant research etc etc... I am not easily swayed by anyone or anything. I am and always have been open to any and all types of ideas. I respect your right to agree with niksfree if you so chose. I will take back my wording on the paranoia to state that some of his thoughts seem to be based in a state of perception that I "think" has not been proven out.I did not intend this to come out as it did. I guess I'm just not sure what the "demon" some people think we have to hide from is. Exactly who or what is attempting to take away my freedom and to what end? If this situation exists as you say it does, what do you suggest we do as a people to change it? What action are you taking to help change it? (Beyond a personal level as in your response) Can this be done without interfering with the rights of the millions that accept and thrive in this democracy? One final thought, do you think these same discussions occured many years ago when we moved from a barter economy to that of one based on coins and currency? Also, where does one obtain their coins and currency to make his personal transactions? They must have come from some government at some point. I would appreciate your thoughts on this. Mike

Hi Mike, Nothing meant to be personal here! Just defending niksfree's opinion and highly respect yours. Some times, in responding, it may be hard to find the correct words so I didn't mean to insult you in any way. I think it would be best if we agree to disagree as this is a coin forum and not the place for this conversation to go any farther! And, I am sure most of the other forum members would rather be reading about coins as well! Appreciate your reply and understand where you are coming from as well. Now back to coins!
Rest in Peace

Terry, I agree! It is an interesting topic and perhaps one we could discuss off line sometime. I intended to offend no one. Sometimes these threads tend to drift a bit. Could you PM me and explain or direct me to where I could learn about the "Sovereign man and 7 natural "laws" we are born with"? I am intrigued. Mike Thanks!

Seven natural laws

1. your free will, 2. cause and effect, 3. resonance or attraction
4. service to others, 5.Forgiveness 6. love and respect of ourselves. 7. transmutation..

For further explanation Mike I highly recommend this site https://www.sovereignperson.com

I can even relate these laws to coin collecting by the following statement.
I love and respect myself enough to join this forum of my own free will to learn about coins I may wish to buy, with this knowledge the cause of learning, I have the effect of buying what I require based on my knowledge and I do service to my fellow collectors by sharing my knowledge without expecting anything in return, if a seller cheats me I will forgive him as he may not know any better and I'm not a jury, in full possession of the facts.. law three kicks in as I attract like minded people around me.... these laws are applicable to every aspect of our lives and as you see must all be involved ,they cannot work on their own seperately... How I live by these laws determins how the law 7 Trasmutation takes effect on me at my death... hope this helps....

PS do not think this has anything to do with religion, it does not...

This forum is Bobby anjd Susan's, but personally I don't mind anyone writing about noncoin related topics as long as they are open and respectful of others. not to sound preachy, but problems come (in my experience fo course) when folks express personal beliefs (political, religous, economic) in blanket or all encompassing ways. "all x are Y" Z's don't care about A", etc.
And Mike did ask for the info.

Hi niksfree,
Visited the site, and am a bit troubled that at sovereignperson introduction, the author writes in first person and has an "about the author" yet does not really tell the reader anything about the author- no name, age, education, detailed description of the background of this philosphy, evolotion of his thought etc. Yet the author writes, and I quote "To comprehend these suggestions, you first need to recognise and acknowledge that there IS a problem and that you may be part of the problem." Last portion is underlined for emphasis. Author is being very specific in challanging the reader. I am fine with that- but not at being lectured by the author who has an about the author section without delivering any real info ABOUT THE AUTHOR.

As long as there are no personal attacks and everything stays family-friendly, I have no problem if threads go a little off-topic. While forums are by their nature anonymous, I like it that people here want to know each other and build friendships. The only way this can happen is for some off-topic posts to happen.

We all need to keep in mind that opinions expressed here are exactly that....opinions. We all have some deeply rooted beliefs, but it is important for us all to respect that we do not all have the same experiences and lessons to draw on, so what works for some may not work for many. The sharing of these opinions helps us all to know each other better and may provide some "food for thought". Personally, I have found that considering all opinions put forth has enabled me to make many very good choices in my life - the creation of this forum is one of them.

Keep in mind as you are each sharing your opinions that not everyone is going to agree and that it is okay if they don't. This world is made up of many different people with different belief systems and viewpoints. That's what makes a forum like this so great!
