I was given an old 1792 coin at one of my last coin purchases. It was not silver so the owner said I could have it. I tried researching it and found a link on here that matched my coin.

The link was titled: French revolution-question about date. I did a search for Louis XVI and this was a match, complete with beheading! Great history and great coin!

I started coins by buying silver. Then I got hooked on collecting various coins. Then I found CCF and learned about varieties, VAMs and coin photography. Now I've discovered World Coins and their history! Will it ever end?!!

Next, you will be into ancients! There are some very knowlegeable people in the CCF. With ancient coins, every one of them is unique in it's own way.

Be very careful of French coins - the urge to build a set due to the plethora of mint marks and privy marks can become addictive....

Old coins are always fascinating to me, through them, I become a history fan also. This is a hobby that can spend your whole life's time. I think the most discouraging fact is buying counterfeit coins unexpectedly. This is why I join this forum, I can learn something that I don't know and I can also share my knowledge to others if I could. Keep message exchanging about counterfiet coins, hope to avoid it as far as possible.
