Frankly speaking, not many Hong Kong/China numismatists do not know such common knowledge so I will publicise my knowlegde learned here to my nation's coins' collectors.
I think in such olden days, silver coins are used as a medium within and also internationally, a clear assertion to the finess of the coin will help people to trade. When the coinage of old "Cap and Ray", the new Mexican peso also showed the finess of silver but more explicitly, "902.7". Other countries showed the similar figures on their coins, e.g.
Argentina 9 Dos Fino (?902 finess) ?Dos=2
Bolivia 9. D. Fino (?902)
Peru 9 Dedimos Fino
Ecaudor Lei 0.900
Colombia Lei 0.90
Panama Ley 0.900
EL Salvrdor 900 Cam
Hondurus 0.900
Guatemala still used old system 10D 20G
All above are the past colonies of Spain, this did not happen on their coins for other countries such as Brazil, British Hondurus and etc.
So it is very interesting when we like to study more deeply by our old coins.
Thank you sharing your experience and knowledge again, Namachieli.
