Love the toning on this one. However I would like some opinions on the reverse....I'm thinking these are die polishing lines but would like some confirmation on this....would like this one graded as well....thanks guys

To be die polishing lines they will be slightly raised. Too hard to tell from the picture. They dont go over the details, only the fields which makes me think they are die polishign lines. Quite severe.

That's a sweet dime piece. Those are definitely die polish lines. Anybody know first hand how TPG's factor in severe die polish lines like that?

I really do not know how much those die polishing lines would adversely affect the grade given by the TPG.

But they are distracting to me which would lead me to only a MS 63 on this one.

Please post a photo of the slabbed coin showing its grade should you decide to go that route.

IMO,

I have seen heavy polish lines on slabbed coins at least up to MS65 and I am sure you can find them on coins that grade 65+. The toning on that dime is very nice

It could be a gem coin or close to it. Great toning!

Love the toning! Too bad for those distracting die polishes on the reverse. I'm not a fan of die polishes at all.

I want to say that they are neutral in terms of grading but feel like they detract beyond 65?

I never really thought of sending this one off to be slabbed....did not think the coin would merit that....however I'm not really a collector of Roosevelt's ....I bought a group of date sets basically for silver content....looked closer at them and every one of them were unc sets....I'm not all that familiar with moderns (know franklins a little but the rest I haven't really collected). I thought the polishing lines were quite extreme....I mean I've seen cleaned coins look similar.....but not so many with the die polishing....while detracting to the eye I thought this one was pretty interesting.

oooh that green! Might be 63 if that is reeding I see on roosie's neck. The polish lines shouldn't affect the grade greatly, but it might dent the price just a bit.

I have a quarter that graded MS-67 with die polish lines like that. I love that dime.

That's a real nice coin! Love the toning and luster, it would bring a premium slabbed.

MS-66

In my experience, die polish lines don't generally detract from a grade. I've seen MS-67 Lincolns with them. Most of the gem grade 50's Lincolns have them. The positive about them is that they mean luster! The freshly polished dies can produce some brilliant coins and the TPG's love luster.
