What jbuck said. That is the original government issue slab that the Ikes were issued in from 71-74. It is also the same slabs the government used for the GSA Morgans. Obviously these slabs are not as secure as the slabs that ANACS places coins in, so they do not guarantee the coins that are left in them.

The plus to this is the coin is graded but does not lose the OGP, which for some folks, like me, is a plus. Also, as the coin is still in the original holder from the mint, no one can argue whether the toning is purposeful or accidental toning.

The drawback is that the coin is not guaranteed. But as I said before, I understand why. NGC also grades GSAs like this (and I presume the Ikes as well) and I believe they dont guarantee either. PCGS does not grade coins in these holders.

Coins in the ANACS holders obviously have their guarantee, or I am pretty sure they wouldnt slab them.

LOL no not a teacher. Just Neurotic about proper English. Aside from apostrophe use. I have a bad habit of not using them when I should. Don't get me started with people saying PIN number. Completely wrong and redundant. PIN stands for personal identification number. So saying PIN number is saying personal identification number number. Same with VIN and ATM.

That aside, the Ikes are one of my favorite coins, especially the silver ones.

Well said, SRD!

Especially that last sentence.

Back in the day, I banned a user for repeatedly saying "BBS system."

I also used to go on and on how an "ATM machine" was actually a machine that made ATMs.

Not really, just a devious sense of humour.
