I was wondering if this was a proof or not. I am pretty sure that it is a filled S, but it could just be regular.

SBA-1979-S-Proof?

SBA-1979-S-Proof? Somehow it made it into circulation and I bought it from the bank.

It is a Business Strike that was struck with a clogged obverse die. All S-mint Business Strike SBAs will have the blobby Type 1 mintmark while proofs can have either Type 1 or Type 2(clear).

All was not lost since you broke even and hopefully learned something new from this thread in the process.

I bought it and four others at the bank. I also got five Kennedy halves and two Presidentials.
