Hello Everyone!
I am new to coin errors and could use some expert advise on this coin if possible. It's a 1967 Lincoln Cent and looks as if someone dropped it into a vat of solder. I touched my iron to it and no melting occurred. Can anyone tell me if this is possibly an error of some sort?
Thanks!
Marc

That's kinda what I thought at first also, but all of the areas are raised. Wouldn't corrosion manifest as "eaten away" areas? I forgot to mention that this coin weighs 3.2g, would this indicate that there is extra material on the coin?

It was either an attempt at plating or painted with 'silver' paint. But the lumps make me think it was plated.

And
Rest in Peace

Can always take a soldering gun to it to see if whatever is on it melts...

Well, guess I'll just put this one aside for now. Soldering iron didn't melt it, could be silver solder. Anyway, many thanks to all of you for checking it out for me!!
Thanks!
Marc

Wouldn't a transporter error make it appear inside out?

"Transporter Chief, did the cent arrive?"

"Yes, Captain, what was left of it. Thank goodness it did not live long."

Could it have been in a fire? Started to melt and
solidified unevenly.
