Help-With-A-Morgan-Dollar-Blemish

Hi all,

I have a Morgan dollar with a strange spot right next to the "s" mintmark. I don't know if you can see it clearly but it looks a little like either a blemish or a hole that was filled. Took it to a dealer who said it was a planchet flaw that was "fixed" at the mint. Crossing my fingers that he's right.

Thanks!

You will need to post a much larger picture, I cannot even see the mintmark clearly. Regarding the planchet flaw theory, the Mint does not "fix" any flaws on planchets. If a flaw is noticed, the planchet would be scrapped.
Rest in Peace

and The mints did not fix flaws. They would scarp the planchet or even the coin if it was a detected flaw. Is there any sing of this on the obverse?

Does this show it any better?

The obverse shows no signs of trouble.

that picture is still way to small (looks about the same size as the other one). We can see something there but we can't tell what it is

Okay, once more and then I admit defeat. This one taken in natural daylight. It's the spot just to the right of the mintmark.

That's where the sprue mark was nipped off after this coin was taken out of its casting mold. Kidding....that is likely just post minting damage that has tarnished up over the years, nothing fancy or added value in my opinion.

After some tinkering with my photo, I will try again with this thread. Here's another pic of the Morgan reverse.

Looks like post mint damage to me. Pictures are getting better (and bigger) but sharper images would help.
