While I was at the my lcs I decided to purchase a used Dansco album to put together another used roosevelt album just concentrating on 1965 and later just from what I could find a cwr obtained from the local banks. I had already accumulated 15 rolls in anticipation of this project.

What I wasn't anticipating was what I would be finding. So far I have looked through 10 rolls and found some unexpected items and have found all but 13 of the targeted 93 coins (no S minted coins and so far I haven't been disappointed). I did have some preconceived notions and they were fast being disproven to my pleasure.

So far I have unexpectedly found 5 2009p dimes. However, as expected I found no 2009d dimes. I wasn't expecting to find any 2009's at all. I plan on keeping the 2009p items in the hopes that they will increase in value as time passes.

Further I found 4 silver dimes and am including them with the others as welcomed but unexpected bonuses.

Were you expecting S-minted coins? Circulated proofs turn up here and there, but if you were thinking about 46-S - 55-S, that's gonna be tough sledding trying to get those out of CRH.

Well done.

Assembling a Roosevelt Clad Dime set should be easier than a full Jefferson nickel set.

That is great you found most of them from roll searching.

Relatively speaking though, finding a Jefferson nickel set from 1964 on, for P&D, shouldn't be too hard, since he is concentrating on dimes from 1965 on. So looking for the similar date range, is definitely possible on completing the nickels. And I do find a ton of nickels from the 40s and 50s, so you will find most nickels for those years too. It is definitely worth pursuing.

What 13 coins are you missing for the dimes?

Since I started this thread I've gone through 25 rolls and have whittled down my list from 13 coins to 10. The 10 that I am still looking for are:

1969, 1970, 1971d, 1973d, 1981p, 1983p, 1985p, 1986d, 2009d, 2010d

I'm fairly confident that I'll find these coins before I get through the box that I have. The only coin that I'm squeamish about in the 2009d. The next lowest populated coin is the 1969 at 149 million. All the others have some hefty numbers with the 1981p, 1983p, and 1985p all over 600 million. Those I'm just concerned about finding suitable circulated coins.

As I said in opening I'm not really looking for "S" mintmarks or silver, but I'm not going to be returning them to the stream if I do happen to catch them. All manna is gratefully accepted.

This is really just an exercise on my part to see how long it it going to take me to catch the items that I'm looking for.

I have added to the count of pre-1965 coins to my surprise as the last time I searched dime boxes I was skunked and was expecting to be so now. Such is luck. So far I haven't added to my 2009 catch total yet other than the 5 that I had initially posted.

This is just strictly a late night activity when I can't sleep. I plan on doing the same for clad circulated quarters later sometime in the future.

This is basically how I've managed to put together 3 complete sets of Jefferson nickels (without purchasing any) and I thought that it was time to do the same for Roosevelt dimes.
