Greetings fellow coin enthusiasts and numismatic pros. I was wondering how you would grade this raw Indian Head cent that I just purchased on ebay for $60 and if I got a good deal or not. There is a 14 day return policy.

Thanks!

The colour looks really unnatural.

I hate to say it but I have to agree that the surfaces do not look natural. Might be cleaned and/or recolored. I would guess it has AU details.

I'm suspicious of the color as well. It doesn't look natural. I suspect the surfaces have been fooled with somehow.

The last time I sent a B/U coin for Certification that had the same marks in the fields, it was returned as being "whizzed"... Prior to submission I didn't know what a whizzed coin looked like, and for me it was a costly education...

I agree with everyone here.
Not original surfaces and you paid way to much, send it back.
Keep looking, you'll fine a common date red IHC for around that money

Any time a seller has a restocking fee (10%) that makes me suspicious. I think its purpose is to discourage buyers from returning coins. That being said, I would still return the coin for the reason that others have stated.

The photos that this seller takes all have that strange orange color. Wait and see what the coin looks like in hand. Post pics if you can.

My first reaction is someone has done something to the color.

I think it is just the color in the photos. The coin will probably show up in a natural color in hand. This happened to me. I bid on a coin similar to this one, yet it had a more natural color. Anyways, it looked uncirculated but then when it arrived to my house it was obviously circulated and the pictures were definitely doctored. I honestly think the bid price it is at right now is already too high. Stay away!
