I just picked up a nice (IMO) Indian Quarter Eagle and wanted to play "show and tell" with the CCF. What do you think NGC had to say about this one? Filling up the gold "page"...very slowly! Your comments are always welcomed and appreciated! (sellers cropped images) Edited by oih82w8 10/15/2012 12:23 am

The reverse fields make me think AU55 but I don't see any other friction so...
...my guess is MS62.

62 as I think you said you wanted a 62 set

To be honest, it looks like it may have come out of a bezel. The ring through LIBERTY, the date and also on the reverse makes me think it came out of jewelry.

It's in an older (solid, no finger, edge view) NGC holder with no "details" noted, but I do see what you are referring to Drsandman2 going through the date and Liberty...possibly "States of America" too What I liked about this one is the strong upper feathers, near the neck of the eagle and the upper legs, whereas I have seen similar graded quarter eagles with less definition.

Hi,
I see several guesses for 62 and a few for 61.
I was the only one so far that thought 63.
Could someone please take a stab at visually explaining what characteristics on this coin display MS 62 traits and why this coin is neither MS 63 nor MS 61?
If the specific area in question can be pointed out with arrows, that would be extremely helpful.
Thanks for the help., mdpmedia

mdpmedia: Here's a 61 and a 63 that have been certified by PCGS. Comparing these to the OP's coin you'll see the differences. True MS63s are tough to make on any gold Indians. PCGS MS61: PCGS MS63:
