I have taken three steps back and one step forward on my 7070 (sold some coins to obtain this), but I think that it is worth it...I finally struck gold! What does the CCF think in comparison to NGC on this Half Eagle?

Thanks for your comments!

Very nice for your first gold. I'll go MS-62. Nice die cracks between stars 2 and 4 and above OF. What's next for the gold page?

Nice coin. I can't tell from the pic if there is full luster on lib's face. If luster is lacking, I would grade AU-58. Otherwise, MS-62

I would not be surprised if it received an MS grade but my gut feeling is it got an AU-58. Very nice buy!

I will preface this by saying I'm a complete amateur on gold grading: MS62.

Nothing major, I sold a couple of coins to my friend, who is in fierce competition with me on the slabbed 7070 (he has three gold coins versus my one ); 09-VDB, a Seated half dime, a War Nickel and a Silver Ike. These did not equate to the Half Eagle but it helped in making the purchase happen. These can be readily replaced easier than the gold.

I am kinda surprised that no one mentioned (or seen) the Overdate...but then again it is not as obvious as some others;

1901-S-$5-Liberty-Gold---What-Do-You-Think?-Ngc

The underlying "0" can best bee seen towards the top, right hand side of the second "1".

Nice coin but I think NGC blew it on this one. Obvious signs of circulation on obverse. Great overdate though.
