I got this in a group of George V 1 cent coins. Looking at it, there seems to be some wear on the obverse details. The wear however, doesn't seem consistant with the amount of lustre left on the coin. It doesn't look to have been cleaned. Are these coins prone to weak strikes?

Any info. and a grade would be appriciated.

My guess is that this has been "whizzed". Cleaned with a high speed buffing wheel of some sorts. This type of cleaning will not leave the typical "tell tale" cleaning scratches, but rather leaves a high shine on the high points and the large fields.

Grade will be VF30 polished

The "glowing halo" surrounding all of the devices is an indicator or a cleaning/wiping/polishing.

Thanks for the input everybody. At VF30 I'm happy with this either way. For $2.00 I was able to upgrade my 1936 to this, and upgrade my 1932 as well.

I see what you are talking about. Is it normal that this would be so much more prominent on one side than the other? The obverse is clearly much more obvious.

The obverse has larger flat fields that the polishing wheel can get down into.

Middross check the obverse for a dot especially if you have a digital blue microscope as the dot is tiny. Its located at the bottom part of the ear but to the right a bit.Good luck with this 2 dollar coin.

I think this coin has been subject to"cabinet friction" of some sort. The wear on the reverse is minimal.Nice one for two bucks.
This coin has not been whizzed.Polishing or buffing is not the same as whizzing.Whizzing is done with a wire brush and rotary tool, the surface of the metal is altered to simulate lustre and bring out details.
