Does anyone know what this penny is? It is larger than a normal penny but is not a cartwheel also it appears to have roses/flowers where the date should be.

This will be a pre-1860 copper penny. The date will be on the other side underneath the sovereign's head. If you post a picture we might be able to give more information.
In 1860 pennies were reduced in size to what we generally know as the traditional pre-decimal size. The metal was changed from copper to bronze because it was harder wearing.

It isn't a circulated British coin.Maybe a medallion or trade token.

Narrowboatbox: your picture has changed!
The original was a well-worn Britannia. What happened?
Can you bring back the original and add the obverse?

if you upload files with the same name, the last one replaces others with that name

Looks to me like a William IV(it should be IIII on the coin) penny.

I had this problem once. I am also in the slow process of photographing ALL my coins, and so am amassing lots of photos. To prevent clashes with filenames I invented a simple naming system for my photo files as follows:
cc-yyyy-vvv-nn
cc = 2 digit code for country of origin yyyy = the year of the coin vvv = code for its value nn = just a number to tell duplicates apart I then add 'o' or 'r' for obverse and reverse.
Maybe something like this might help you Narrowboatbox.
Also, if you post the obverse of your penny we could perhaps give you more information.

Quote: For some reason when I post new thread it changes the image on my previous thread ? That is because their name is the same. When you post a picture with the same name in a different thread it will overwrite the new picture with the first one with that name that you uploaded. If someone else had the same name of their picture it would not use your picture but if you do then this is what will happen. I just name my pictures with the name and put a number beside it like jubilee,jubilee1,jubilee2 and so on, that way there is no conflict with the pictures
