Yesterday I received my first early big copper coins from Russia.. They weight 50 & 48 grams.. I think the 1771 is an over-struck coin..

Very Nice! I love these giant clunky coppers! These have been on my want list for a while. I just couldnt imagine walking around with a couple of those in your pocket... Thanks for sharing. BTW I think I agree with your assessment of the 1771 being overstruck.

I have one like the 1771 variety of yours. Coins like these are fun to share with someone who has no interest in coin collecting. They can't help but be amazed by the size alone!

The 1771 5 kopek can't be an overstrike. If you said double struck, yes, but overstruck, no.

is the kopek 1803 same diameter size and weight as the 1771?
