Hi, guys I'm new to this forum but have been collecting coins for a while now. Nothing serous just more of stumbling into coins now and then. My question is I have a Morgan dollar with no year on it and no other identifying marks. She has a helmet with wings on it and you can only see her bangs. On the back looks like a bundle of vertical twigs and some vines/ foliage I don't really care what it's worth I keep it in my pocket so when I'm bored I twirl it in my fingers but I'm curious what it is. I've been looking for weeks and can't find another one like it so I believe it's fake. But figured I'd ask if there's any chance if it's real. It's not in the best shape but I will post pictures if there's any chance its real. Thanks for your time. Mike Cogar

Not a Morgan dollar. Maybe a generic silver round?

It sounds like you have a generic silver round with the Mercury dime design on it.

As far as being fake, the design itself doesn't make it fake. I have 2 similar ones with the Buffalo nickel and walking liberty designs on it.

Does yours say 1 oz silver anywhere? If it does run a magnet over it and if it doesn't stick it should be silver. Since its not a mint coin you only need to be concerned if its made out of what it says it is

And yes it does say 999 fine silver one ounce on the back. And liberty along the top rim of the front and in god we trust under her chin on the right.

EDIT: Did you mean to say magnet does or doesn't stick?

I'm afraid that if the magnet sticks, you probably have a silver-clad steel round. It weighs an ounce, and the cladding might be .999 fine silver, but unfortunately what you have is essentially a pretty chunk of steel.

it is some sort of round and if it says 999 fine silver it should not stick to a magnet. The design sounds like it is one of a Mercury dime instead of a Morgan dollar also
