Yesterday I went to my credit union and they did not have any pennies for me So I ordered some. Meanwhile I was racing the clock to get to ANY OTHER BANK to get some coins. I stopped in at one near my house with only 5 minutes to spareI purchased a box and they were hand rolled. about half . well all the handwrapped ones were dated on the roll. 1972, 1980, 1961, 1976, 1970, 1983 1984. there were 24 rolls total that were marked, I wasnt looking forward to this boring dig, well the 76, and 61 were all old looling, but the copper was ok, I guess. I opened up the first of 4 1970 rolls and they were all cleaned, a nasty light pinkish dull color they are, I have to wait til Monday to get to the bank for more rolls. WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH THE UGLY CLEAN COPPERS?,

Copper is copper. I'd keep them if that's what you do.

Thats what I figure too, but like the corroded coppers I give them back cause they are contageous. that pink doesn't hold some chemical that could spread to my other coppers. I have them in quaranteen I guess I will just keep them there. How come you can get copper pots and make them shine as if they were new? but pennies not so much...

Do you look for varieties and errors. There are known ones for 83-84-72-70. And if any of the rolls have MM there are RPM's to look for.

I agree.

The pink was probably caused by dipping them in E-Z-Est. It is ugly, but it is not contagious. However, I do not fault you for keeping them separate. The good news is that they will tone brown again, eventually.

How quickly will they tone brown again? Will exposure to air or anything else accelerate that process?

At least look through the 4 70 Lincoln rolls for 70-s small dates.

How fast depends on the environment. Exposure and handling should accelerate it.
