I would not buy that one! It has been harshly cleaned (vertical lines in the fields). Trade dollars are one of the most counterfeited coins around.

Be safe and get one that has been certified by a quality Third Party Grader (PCGS, NGC, ANACS or ICG). You will be glad that you did!

thanks for the advice - but I'm going for design. I personally dont have quarrels with cleaned coins! Its also at a quite low price because of it.

Ill check the fakes report for fake ones.

I can get Trades for $4, get familiar w/them before even considering a purchase.
Same guy sells these below. It's the 3rd I've bought from him. Sure, all fakes, but all drastically different in weight. I've a binder w/about 40.
This one's 25.5g

I would have to see the Obverse to be able to give an opinion on authenticity. If its a fake it is not worth but maybe a dollar as that is what you can get them on every street corner in China for

I would love to get a graded Trade dollar. To be honest, and I could be off base but those harsh streaks almost strike me as an intential effort to show wear-as it is highly counterfited. I personally would ONLY buy a slabbed one. Just my 2 cents.

Your best bet if you don't want to buy a slabbed Trade dollar is to buy one from a very reputable dealer who has a no questions asked return policy if it turns out to be a counterfeit. I highly recommend not to buy a raw Trade dollar off of ebay, probably 90% of them are not genuine.

Very poor image, but even from it I would think chances are better than 80% that this one is a fake.
