There are some good articles about the classic liberty coinage. The author of an article agrees that presidents are getting old on our coins. Interesting reading.

I was very interested in the article on Capped Bust halves. In addition to a well-written article discussing some of the history of the half dollar, there are a number of large b/w pictures and graphs showing the sales performance of the BHD's (which has been steadily increasing for the past 20 years, according to the graphs). The best part of the article was about the design and history behind why the coinage changed in the early 1800's. According to the article, this was due to the political affiliations of Patterson who was an ardent Republican supporter and felt that the coinage represented the Federalist viewpoint.

Amazing how politics affect everything, isn't it?
