I have a few errors and varieties I would like to have graded and attributed. I'd like the best bang for my buck. Can anyone suggest what company might do this type of certification so that I have a good resale value when completed?

If I'm not mistaken, ANACS would be your best option, as they will slab varieties. Not 100% sure though, so I would wait on the Forum Mom or someone to come along with more experience on ANACS. For some reason I just remember a thread that said the big two will not slab errors or varieties, but it may just be varieties they won't touch. The more I think about it, I think they all may do errors, but ANACS is the variety king. It may also depend on the coin.

Not really sure if I helped you or not.....

NGC and PCGS do slab errors and different types of varities. NGC and PCGS require a membership to submit. You can check out these sites to see which suits you best. What kinds of errors or varieties are you thinking about slabbing?

NGC:
Varieties: http://www.ngccoin.com/VPCategories.aspx
Errors: http://www.ngccoin.com/services/services.asp (Scroll down to Mint Errors)

PCGS: http://www.pcgs.com/grading_list.ch...yAttribution

ANACS: http://www.anacs.com/contentPages/Services.aspx

Hope this helps!

garretterika,

ANACS will be the best bang for your buck.So far as I know they slab all varieties, someone else may know different.PCGS only slabs certain varieties.I know nothing about NGC.I believe PCGS slabs errors, but their fees are high.

ANACS is well recognized in the error and variety field. Most
complaints with ANACS is their grading, but you get complaints about
the other services as well.

When submitting errors and varieties,I use ANACS.

You don't have to be a member to submit.

Sometimes they run specials, but require a minimum coin submission.
Take a few minutes to look at each TPG and compare fees.

hope this helps

thanks to all for your information. It sounds like the consensus for my amatuer level is ANACS. to the member who asked what I was going to certify, I have a bunch of light planchet error Kennedy half dollars and an unclad sacagawea error. Thanks again. I'll look up ANACS

Hello, I'm Paul Bishal, son of the late Pete "DaNutt" Bishal who was an error dealer for over 20 years and this is my 1st post here (I just found this place tonight).

Actually I wouldn't go with Anacs right now. Due to their move they lost a lot of graders. Especially error graders. I sent in several errors to them back in January and they couldn't identify them even though I told them what they were. (My father taught my brother and myself a lot about errors)

At the Long Beach Expo in 2/07 I talked with Al Levy and Fred Weinberg about it and they advised me to go with either PCGS or NGC until Anacs gets their act together. Being as I don't like PCGS because of their prices I go with NGC. I'd rather pay $16.00 per coin than $40.00 per coin.

Paul
