Auction number 79448479 seller is asking $1050 I have serious doubts this coin is authentic. What are your opinions?

Pretty harshly cleaned, but I don't know of any perfect reproductions of B-29 BB-119 out there. And given the characteristic "trident" of die cracks about the date, it would be both difficult and a less-than-tempting target.

I would not buy a coin from a seller whose edge letter images look like hieroglyphics.

Not that I'm that familiar with the exact edge lettering design mind you. But I'd pass.

Well judging by Philadelphians coin and yours they look very similar. The die crack through the date looks very cool.

Coin is authentic, but, it has severe hairlines from a past cleaning and has several scratches on the left obverse. Worth about $900 with those problems JMO

Yes coin appears to be real, but heavy cleaning and pitting, I agree worth about $900

Thought I'd upload a couple edge shots of my 1798 B-29 BB-119, for comparison purposes, for those who doubt the genuine article could could be so weird. And for those whose slabs will never allow the edges to be seen again

Philadelphian these hierogylphics are what threw me. I've never seen this on a US coin. Any idea what this stuff translates to?

They aren't symbolic of letters or anything. The edge lettering in this period was applied by a Castaing machine; two parallel bars, each with half the lettering, and the coin was rolled in between. I suppose a string of these decorative elements was at the end of each bar (to take up extra space?). There are two clusters of symbols, one on each side of the edge; I photographed them above. See how the rightmost star in the second photo is cut off? That's where the Castaing machine stopped.
