It's time for Buffalo Nickels, people! Starting the 20th of February we have the "23 Days of Buffalo nickels"! How does this work? Starting the 20th of February, we all post pictures of our 1913 Buffalo nickels (the first year of minting of the Buffalo nickel). Then...wait for it... on the 21st, we all post pictures of our 1914 Buffalo nickels! And so on, and so on, through the "23 Days of Buffalo nickels!" Here's the schedule:20 Feb: 1913 (all mint marks, errors & varieties!) 21 Feb: 1914 22 Feb: 1915 23 Feb: 1916 24 Feb: 1917 25 Feb: 1918 26 Feb: 1919 27 Feb: 1920 28 Feb: 1921 29 Feb: 1923 (Happy Leap Year!)1 Mar: 1924 2 Mar: 1925 3 Mar: 1926 4 Mar: 1927 5 Mar: 1928 6 Mar: 1929 7 Mar: 1930 8 Mar: 1931 9 Mar: 1934 10 Mar: 1935 11 Mar: 1936 12 Mar: 1937 13 Mar: 1938 So, get your Buffalo Albums out of storage, go to the bank to get out your Buffalo nickels from the safety-deposit box, get on ebay and buy that last minute Buffalo you don't have yet and get your camera charged and ready! Just click, save, edit, post! It's that easy! The BUFFALOS are coming! (Stampede a' comin'!)

Can you imagine the sight of a Buffalo herd in the 19th century, when they numbered in the tens of millions? A single herd might be tens or hundreds of thousands of individuals, covering an expanse of miles. It would have been one of the most amazing sights on Earth. Sad.

Good thing I cropped one of my scans. The resultant image will work for either March 10 or 11.

Thanks for setting up this thread Moe. I will enjoy the entire show from the sidelines - and cheer of course I do have one buffalo that has great detail because it is so bent. I don't know what year because there's a huge black blob covering the date. I hope there will be a prize for this one.

Since my only 2 decent Buffalo nickels are type coins, I will join in on the first and last days. But I will enjoy following the thread for the full 23 days. Another for Moe.
