Another in my continuing saga "Out with the Old & In with the New". Today's episode: Three Cent Silver (since these are tiny, I am using the coin only);

(out with the old 1853 3CS ANACS EF40 - Tooled - Cleaned)

Out-With-Old-&-In-With-New---Three-Cent-Silver

Out-With-Old-&-In-With-New---Three-Cent-Silver

(in with the new 1861 3CS NGC AU55)

Out-With-Old-&-In-With-New---Three-Cent-Silver

That is such a cool idea coming up with "out with the old and in with the new"!

Just a slight twist on macmercury's "Perpetual "Upgraded Coin" thread".

Macmercury, that is my reasoning behind this type thread, my 7070 gold page has slowed down my accumulation of coinage while I gather some funds for my next addition. Although my latest addition (now I will have two gold pieces), Indian Quarter Eagle gold is in the city (although missent to wrong zip code, but that is another thread).

Sweet coin!

I'm planning on attending the Bay State Coin Show in a couple of weeks, and this is definitely on my list of coins in my 7070 I am hoping to upgrade.
Rest in Peace

Excellent "new" example! I really like the color of the 1861. You know, looking at the two nearly side by side, I prefer the type 3 over the type 1 anyways.

I must be going blind...I just now noticed the the arrows and olive branch are not present on the Type I reverse.

I must have been focusing too much on the horizontal lines from the shield die clash in the III.

How about the movement of STATES (actually all of the legend) in relation to the top point of the obverse Star between the two types? Forrest...meet trees.

I don't know if I've ever noticed the difference in the reverse designs before now either. I've always seen the star design described as the difference between type 1, 2 and 3.

The first coin has a nice look, too bad it was toiled and cleaned at one point. The ngc one is just as nice!
