Whilst going through the Olympic 50p to make up second collection, I found 4(!!) 2012 Shield 50p, these are the first date outside of 2008 that I have seen in circulation. Have the 2009, 2010 etc been minted/put into circulation?

Still looking for Mary Rose £2 though!!

You are the first person I know of who reported finding a 2012 Royal Shield 50 pence in circulation.

I have not heard of anyone reporting finding any 2009, 2010, or 2011 Royal Shield 50 pence coins in circulation.

I have found only two Mary Rose £2 coins so far. None of the King James Bible £2 yet.

Hi Kena, we are sick of finding the King James Bible!! Got so many... Son (the coin collector) will be pleased at being the first at 2012 Shield!

The typical no rhyme or reason about where coins show up first or at all in the UK.

Congrats to your son on being the first to report the 2012 Shield 50 pence and tell him to keep up the good work.

Ive found lots of the Shield 50ps - but I agree, they seem too rare in comparison.

And I found a Mary Rose £2 at the Games in London, yet to find the King James yet...
