quote: My Red Book and Coin Facts do not list a 1902 CC.
That's because the Carson City Mint closed in 1893. It's a pretty blatant fake.

Thank-you Super Dave for the info. You sure have to be careful buying coins don't you?

Their listings are full of fakes. People, please take the time to report these listings.

I reported the CC ones after the year 1893, but I don't know much about Morgans to know which other ones are fake. Which ones are? How can you tell, I would love to learn from their auction about how to spot a fake - thanks ruth

Man! I went over and looked at the sellers coins - they all appear to have an unhealthy look about them - don't believe I'll be buying any Morgans from their listing.

All you need to know about this seller is contained in the auction language - this is plainly a Chinese counterfeiter masquerading as a U.S. seller. There's no way of knowing how many hundreds or thousands of dormant accounts they've created, to cycle in as older accounts get banned.
Note the Paypal-only payment method (so you don't need their physical address), and the sudden listing of 19 relatively high-dollar coins after not having touched the account in a year.

Actually, after looking at all the coins.I don't believe there is a real one in the bunch. ruthjohn, some of the things to watch for are date numbers being mismatched in size and height.Another is the washed out look with zero mint luster as all of these coins have.If you can get a close up of the coin you will sometimes see what look to be black bubbles between the denticals cause from slag coming to the surface as many of these coins are poured and not stamped. Look at the dates on some of these coins. You can see how wrong they are.

I agree that all of his coins are fake, and I agree with SuperDave that it is a Chinese dealer trying to sell them.

He's honest about one of his coins, the 1895 CC says false in the title, the copy and paste function must have dropped that part off of the rest of them.

It's possible; the Chinese are known to sometimes use lower-quality silver in their creations.
