hi, all,

I'm a beginner for coin collecting.
I just decided to collect coins because new presidential coins looked so great to me. ^^

My plan is to collect a roll of new coins every year.
so my question is how I can get that new rolls?
yes. I know, I can get it from USmint.gov or ebay.
but, I wonder if there is any cheaper way.

can I get new rolls from any banks around my home?
Every bank is supposed to get rolls of new issued coins every year?
Is there any way I can guess when banks have new rolls?

please share your experiences with me. thanks.
Rest in Peace

ksyim, Welcome to the forum!!

Just Friday afternoon I walked into my bank (Bank of the West), and asked them for rolls of Presidential dollars. The teller asked me how many I wanted, and I told her two. In less than two minutes I was walking out of the bank with fifty new Washington Dollars.

Again, welcome to the forum.

It's a great forum, made up of many helpful and knowledgable people.

Welcome to the forum!!
Most of the banks will let you have rolls of new coins when they have them, the best bet it contact a couple of banks in your town and ask them if they have the new year coins at that time. It will probably take several calls, but once you get in with the bank and they know you want new coin rolls on a regular basis they will call you when they get a new shipment.

ksyim, Welcome to the forum...you're going to like it here!!

Your best bet is to become friendly with a teller at your bank. Tell them you're a collector and get them to hold a roll for you.

While you're making trips to the bank why don't you try roll hunting. Jefferson nickels is a great place to start because you can almost put a whole set together from circulation. I did Jefferson nickels for awhile and now I'm doing halves. The tellers at the bank know me by now since I go in and swap rolls every weekend.

Good Luck and enjoy collecting!

Thanks for you guys reply.
The best tip looks like good relationship with tellers. ^^

Usually, bank gets new rolls by regular basis continuously over year?
or they order it at certain period only, for example, beginning year?

I'm kind of afraid to ask them 'do you have new rolls?' everytime.
the reason I'm asking is that I'm originally stamp collector.
For stamp case, there is issue date, you know.
If I ask post office 6 months later after issue date, 'do you have this stamp?, it may sound weird because it's too late.
I wonder if bank is similar situation with post office or not.

please let me know. thanks a lot.!

The key is to go inside everytime. I know it's easy to go to the ATM or drive-thru, however you don't get to know the tellers...
