Don't forget Prince the 1890 florin has a very scarce variety Davies 816 cross of harp and date to gap between teeth. Both issues make solid returns in auctions . A very sort after date today. Much scarcer than the book would suggest in grades GVF+  |

Nothing spectacular but decent grade AEF 1863 Bronze Penny. Lovely colours which as always just seem to evade the depth of the camera range   |

Zookeeperz, I agree, I look at the All coins value page and sure my Jubs are both crown touching the teeth at 9 o'clock, even in Fine condition like my pieces (Your coin is a work of art!) you can see that.
Also found out my 1853 Gothic Florin, is the Truncated crown variety which is less common.
I love that site - allcoins values!

In addition, andyG also included these 2, he must have read my mind as I needed them.   The Brexit and Diversity 50p's. What do you guys think of these issues (As in general rather than my examples which are standard AU/lowUNC and more than good enough). I mean I find the coins okay designs and the concepts are fey I guess, but were you all feeling a bit non plussed when compared to some of the magnificent British circulating commems out there (Like the WWF and Brunel ones, even the Great British 10p hunt). |

"What do you guys think of these issues" The Brexit one is OK IMO but ... (political commentary removed by the staff) ... I don't believe that it is necessary. A celebration of the Windrush generations contribution would be cool but the vague nature of this statement and its lack of artfulness just leaves a lot to be desired. The mint has really lost me of late, those 10 pence coins with the letters on them... I never saw a single one in my change and to put a set together is naturally impossible. THe plethora of 50P commemorative and even the £2 ones makes completion impossible without resorting to ebay. Its from sublime to rediculous... for a while there wasn't much of interest in our change and now theres too much to find just by normal means. |

Wasn't it Queen Boudica Who built Britain? Well the start of it anyway  and I don't see a lot of friendship between many nations lately. Royal Mint will strike anything if they can make huge profits. You should see what they charge for circulated toot. All disguised under some reference to yesteryear and a few pretty pictures. The actual coins are no better than Fine. Here's a Little gem I picked up with the aid of my eagle eye  just a tad better than the normal offerings for this scarce variety Edward VII open 3 Penny. Given the name as the 3 on a normal coin at the top curves the same as it does at the bottom. The open 3 does not and is flatter and points straight ahead. Finest known is GVF and sold for £1700 at auction. Can you imagine the value if one ever turned up in UNC      Edited by zookeeperz

Boudicea led a tribal uprising against the Romans. Britain wasn't really formed till King James brought Scotland together with England but in my opinion the bulk of the heavy lifting when it comes to "Building Britain" was the industrial revolution. We didn't have slavery in this country since 1066 since William outlawed the sale of slaves, since that time our demographics were pretty much set and aside from what would be considered a small quantity of Hugenot migrants by modern standards we had no real influx till after WW2 and even that was a trickle in comparison to Tony Blairs contribution.
That penny would have no doubt slipped past me, very nice spot.

GoodFine - about right for the price I would say.
Lovely coin and design, 1929 was a common year but it is to me one of the finest coin designs of the whole George V series.

Unrecorded overstrike R over E in VICTORIA. 1860 .925 Silver Shilling. Was excited to get this one home. As we all know what first appears something on a picture 9/10 times is brain seeing something that's not there but makes us think there is. Thankfully I went with gut feeling and that trained eagle eye. So far it would be classed as Unique although for the life of me I cannot see there being just 1 with this mint error. Also unusual as in we normally see these coins double struck on the Obverse but this is Triple struck . I guess time will tell if anymore come to light. But it's classed as excessively rare and a real welcome addition to the family. Picture does no justice to the coin . For me its high GVF prob a 55 on UK grading has full lustre both obverse and reverse. A few really minor marks . Pics below
