Pushed the boat out a little but I am happy with it. Just put a bid in I thought was reasonable and it held and still below any that had sold previously . A Delightfully toned 1871 Shilling Die 14 PCGS-MS62 = UK AU78 . I left the reverse pic as is to show the die rotation on it   |

Picked up these two George III sixpences at auction. First is a 1819 brass contemporary counterfeit for just under 5 pounds. It was listed as an 1819 brass sixpence with no mention of it's lack of authenticity. Second is a genuine 1816 for 6 and a half pounds. I have no idea if I got fleeced or if it was a good deal. The pictures do them no justice unfortunately. They both look very nice in hand.   The Ox moves slowly, but the Earth is patient.

Also picked up a space filler 1799 farthing. Not in the best condition, but also not in the worst.  The Ox moves slowly, but the Earth is patient.

A slight departure from my usual Warwickshire Coventry Tokens, to show off a recently arrived, and very nice, Somerset Bath City Token featuring the Pump Room. The part I really like is the Lion and the Rat on the reverse side. I just had to have one of these reverse designs. A rather difficult token to find and this one is in pristine bronzed proof condition. A Somerset Dalton & Hamer #82

That is a brilliant looking token, Westcoin. And yes, the lion and rat (and little snake!) are quite the feature.
The colour and toning are exquisite. A great addition.

westcoin, that Kempson's piece is gorgeous! But you're putting us on about the Lion and the Rat, right? Your rat looks suspiciously just like the bear on my Walsall penny token issued 35 years later!  Go Stars! Tom
